Artwork Description

"Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work"

This is the fifth from the Seven Deadly Sins series.

Symbolism:

- She is sitting on a swing and blowing bubbles: it's a symbol of wasting your time on insignificant things; idleness

- She is placed above the ground, in the sky: symbol of being separated from Earth and mundane htings (like work etc)

- Feathers: to me they symbolize something sleepy and lazy

- Color: to me light blue is also a color of sleepiness and idleness

Technical:
Done in Painter in approx. 60 hours.

Hope you like Smile

I really love her face.

I see that you are talented with digital works and I admire that, they are gorgeously drawn, but if i may give an honest critique, i think that maybe conceptually these illustrations are a little weak. I think that you have a great general understanding of your concept, but what could really set works like these apart from a generally good work to an extrordinary work is by diving a little deeper into a concept. Kepp up the facinating work, I hope that you can except my critisism as critisim and not being to hard on you.

Why isn't wrath on here? I swear I saw it and it had your signature & style...

Guest's picture

Wow, I've been waiting for Wrath and Gluttony. Please do more, I think your work is great.

Guest's picture

Her hair looks like cotton candy. Is that part of the symbolism?

Guest's picture

I was wondering, were r the other "Seven Deadly Sins" like Gluttony or Lechery? But they r all beatiful (one of the best art work i've ever seen, ever)

Guest's picture

I'm curious, how you'll make Wrath and Gluttony...
All 5 are very very beautiful, and I hope you will make the last two sins soon! =)

Love it keep making those sins please!!!

Beautiful picture.
Her face, especially her eyes and mouth, reminds me about Paris Hilton, which is quite appropriate, Paris would indeed qualify for "sloth".

Guest's picture

Great Picture with a great concept and symbolism...But I have to say, she reminds me of Glinda, from Wicked.

I love this series so much! My favorite about this piece is how her 'hair' looks like the coif women wore during the 19th century, aristocracy of the french revolution. Don't know if you meant to do that or not.

Absolutely beautiful work Marta. Your best because of all you've done in the series, I think you captured the characteristics of this sin nicely. Gorgeous colour to boot.

Wow, that is really amazing! Her dress is so beautiful and realistic...well so is the rest of it! Oh and i love the eyelashes and the hands and the contrast and...it is really great! I need to check out the other deadly sins now, Bravo!
