Artwork Description

This is a portrait of my big brother Tormod which I made just for fun. When I was home in norway recently I decided to make a painting like this where he looks like a mad executioner or something similar, hehe...

Painted during 2-3 evenings using photoshop with a wacom tablet.

Painted august 2005.

Haha, that boulder guy is someone I for sure don't know, funny story Smile
I am kinda jealous on my brothers name it origins from "Tor" (Thor, the norse god of thunder and lightning), and "mod" (which is old norwegian for courage). Thanks for the citiques, most appreciated! -Henning

Hey, people in Norway have awesome names! Tormod reminds me of Conan, and of course Norse mythology. I am always deeply impressed with the amount of hardwork that you put into your images, all hand rendered, meticulous detail, I can see the pores in his skin! Most of all, is how you control the mediation/balance of details so that it is always harmoniously balanced, this requires the skill of a virtuoso. I'd like to visit Norway someday. My dad did once. He told me the legend of a Norwegian man so big and powerful, that after being kicked out of a bar for unruliness, he blocked the door with a giant bolder so that no could leave!!! Wow!

This picture and your explaination made me laugh. I suppose he had the same malicious grin on his face while he tortured you as a kid?

The skin tones and sense of depth on this are really nice too. Thanks for posting.

Art at its best.
