Artwork Description

watercolor. Part of an early series of seasonal pictures I did. The original was bought years ago, which still makes me sort of sad.

Thanks Tigger! I tried to have the dog in a classic dog "come-play-with-me" bow.

The dog, or is it a wolf, looks strangly like my border collie playing fetch. Very good, I must say. I'm still stuck with pencils and erasers, but I'm getting the hang of water colors.

It's Epilogue Guest again making the rounds! Thanks for your flattering words. Smile Inspiring another person to paint is the BEST kind of compliment I can get.

This is my favorite of your entire gallery. You used all of my favorite colors too! Your style is simply amazing! When I get inspired to paint, I'll think of you!

Thank you! No, winter doesn't have to be bleak. It has its own magic.

(Continued---Soorry, ran out of room...) I also envy people who are adept at digital art (like yourself) because I'm a goofball when it comes to computers. Thanks for your kind words! I really feel inspired by the artists I see on Epilogue and your gallery is AMAZING!

Thank you, Uwe! I'm so flattered to have someone as talented as you looking at my gallery!! I love gouache because I've never had the knack for acrylic and oils (I envy those who use them so well.) Gouache isn't easy either (very tricky doing glazes without making a muddy mess. That's why I'm experimenting with acrylic gouache and adding acrylic medium to regular gouache to "seal" a color so I can paint over

Holy cow!!!!! I just had a look through your gallery – wow – amazing work what you show here – this one is really breathtaking – this horse is sooooooo goooood – i love it – and it is good to see that someone else works with gouache, isn’t it a wonderful medium – sadly i haven’t too much time to do traditional stuff lately, so I tend to work more and more digital – i love the digital media, still have to learn a lot, but I still think traditional media has just more charm – so keep up your wonderful work! – I sure will be back to enjoy your wonderful art – thanks for posting and the inspiration!!

Eep!
J.P. Targete! I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! (Sits with big stupid grin on her face.)
Thank you!!! Laughing out loud

Wow..every piece in your gallery is eye catching Raine, however this piece is really a knock out. Not to may artist can draw horses well, I myself struggle with them at times, but you nailed this one. Very very lovely work, I'm a fan of yours now.

Thank you for your flattering words! Watercolor is tough and I still flounder (it's most evident in the earlier pictures like this one.) Oh, and when you mean "feathers" are you talking about the horse's fetlocks? (Sorry, I'm really dumb about horse terminology. ) You're the first person to single out the bird! Thanks!

Guest's picture

The bird of prey is amazing, and I love the horse's feathers! Wish I was half as talented as you concerning watercolours. Oh well. *Returns to staring at picture in awe*

rainesz's picture

That makes me feel better! Yay, blue horse!

Guest's picture

i positively love the horse. you did a wonderful job with this.

rainesz's picture

Thank you, Chris! I had an art director tell me she did not like this picture because the horse was blue.
Oh well. horse of a different color and all that...

What I love most about this image is the curvy linework and brushstrokes throughout, they really give it an exciting & fantastical style. Great work!

Art at its best.
