Artwork Description

Firstly, let me begin the description with the reason why I made this piece. At the beginning of the spring semester in my metalworking class, I became inspired to create something for my friend Angela Sasser. She has been a great inspiration and friend to me, always there to give me support when I need it, or to make me laugh when I'm about to strangle someone. In turn, I was inspired to create something for her. I began to design several pendant designs, and settled upon one of outstretched wings. This is the result.

Created with sheet sterling silver and amethyst. I used chasing to make the feathers in the sterling, and the chain links holding the second amethyst were made from sheet silver as well. Since I had no sterling wire, I had to improvise, and used a drawplate to get a thin sliver of sheet sterling to 32 gauge, and also to make it round.

Brenda: It's lovely. A soft, feminine, rounded form. Angela will be tickled.

Art at its best.
