Artwork Description

The lady in this picture is Amanda, and she is the commissioner of both "Peace and Inspiration" and "Joy and Happiness" and is a good friend. She is also the lady of honour at my colleague's wedding, and this is a commission from the bride, as a gift for Amanda for helping her out with organising a wedding in under two months! Amanda a highly spiritual woman; she is a qualified Angel therapist and spends a lot of time visiting places like Egypt and the US in pursuit of more spiritual knowledge and meeting other like minded people. So when my colleague originally suggested that we dressed her up as a Geisha, after a couple of sketches, I couldn't help but think a magical egyptian setting would be better. So this is the result! Did quite a bit of research for the background, and it's made up of various temple references. Plants and the water, which I'm really happy with, are all off the top of the head. And if anyone can read hieroglyphics, I can't imagine any of that will make sense!

As usual, done in coloured pencil, a mix of prisma and karisma, on a letterhead-sized piece of beige card. Took, gods, about 25-30 hours! And I have a load of crappy step by step photos of it too, so I'm hoping to make a tutorial when I find the time to put it together, for those of you who wonder how I work.

Thanks James, much appreciated, I'm trying to create more 'complete' pieces of work now. The card colour was a great base to get that soft look.
