Artwork Description

Guarding the world from the forces of darkness is an arduous task. The Keeps of Light were established across the realm to assist in keeping a watchful eye over the land. Each tower belongs to one mage, a wizard that has dedicated his life to the preservation of the land and animals under his vigilant eye. For his life-long sacrifice he is given many gifts to assist in his daily tasks, and nothing can escape his watchful eyes.

While I had completed another piece in pastel, Penultimate Fantasy, I hadn't really gotten into the complications of pastels and their nuances. I consider this to be my first true pastel work, and I have to give credit to A.B. Word and Barrie Bryant for allowing me to apprentice with them recently.

Most of my sticks are Rembrandt, and I used primarily Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils. I don't use oil pastel, only soft pastels. For pencils they are the softest you can find. My sticks are moderate hardness.

great pastel work! Which pastels did you use? soft or hard? Like the hair and esp. his eyes...

Art at its best.
