Artwork Description

This picture is painted just for my personal fun as I love Greenman character. I used dark green paper as background and than heavy watercolor. Must use only some pigments which cover a lot or are milky and shine on darke surfaces and it didnt allow big wet washes, you have to work with nearly dry color, small amount of water and more drawing-like technique similar to egg tempera) I eperimented with that technique for some time. In a past I used acrylic underpainting, but colored papers are more nicer and more easy to work with (because you have always middle shade), you just have to keep some rules as about choice of colors and fact that some pigments change so when you paint, you have to mix color in your head and always count with color of background.

Very beautiful. Beyond words.

Thank you so much. That's what I really wanted ... to paint him wise and handsome with clear big green eyes. He is usually painted like monster or laughing with strange grin on face.

this is fantastic! All the different details that stand out... the beautiful oak leaves! And the mans face is so friendly and approachable... like a Summer or Nature's Santa!
