Guest's picture

i like it...and i think you should make a big one

stevenadams's picture

hahah! thanks!

Thanks, your comments are well thought out and appreciated. I completely agree with you, some people just get personal with their comments, but, its art, and this is what it is supposed to do.

Guest's picture

Thats hilarious! Brilliant idea man, wish I thought of it!

First off, I think that every single person who considers themselves an artist and then goes and posts a comment saying how horrible or disgusting it is does not reserve the right to call themselves an artist.

To do something on such a small scale as this is quite a talent and the message that you tried to send is very well received because of your use of iconic things such as the sardine can. I do find this disturbing, yes, but purely because of the meaning. It has shock value and that's what makes it such an effective piece of art. I think if you ever make a second attempt, you should put even more babies in there to emphasize the overcrowding.

No, made with Sculpey, its around 9cmx7cm.

hey thanks!

Incredible artwork...shoking but deffinately makes a good point that life isn't always pretty. I love how this picture is so thought provoking.

stevenadams's picture

we need more positive comments! thank you!

Guest's picture

The more negative comments on this page ought to look at the deceased Dryad (another artists' work)! Poor thing... not real of course though. This sculpture is a life entirely.

stevenadams's picture

i totally disagree with you, i think you are shallow sheltered and ignorant, art is about pushing boundaries, this is about overcrowding, this is about how cheap life is this isn't about exploiting children, I don't care if you're upset by this, in fact i'm glad, it has bothered you, you need to think about what this might say outside of your small little world to other peolple, if you don't like either complain to the site about or don't bother leaving such ridiculous comments in future.

Guest's picture

Steve, what is the reason that an artist can do that?
Are you in lack of ideas? Think more, come with other ideas, is this maximum that you can ? aEvery stupid guy can do this. to shock is at everyone hand ! Try more man ! this is not ok, i am an artist too, and i suggest you to delete this. this is not art , is lack of ideas

stevenadams's picture

hey thanks, i'm very proud, I thought I might have lost it recently but it turned up in a cupboard in college!!!

Guest's picture

this is really good i dont know how you did it so amazing ! you should be proud, i love the 3d part xxxxxx

stevenadams's picture

Indeed, i'm glad somebody gets it, and very nicely put!

Really thought provoking...and to all those negative people who posted rude comments ... why do they find it indecent - surely the point is to make something disturbing to gain the necessary reaction ... life isn't all sweetness and joy ... makes you think about young girls having babies without thought to the life quality of the child. Take the nasty comments as a positive that you've made them think.

life isn't always pretty, when you see over population and the sort, it isn't pretty, it leads to ugly scenes of people getting frustraited with each other, its not pretty, when an artist makes a comment on life sometimes we have to use sacred things and distort them, to grab your attention, these again are not pretty. We don't deal with pretty art, i cannot muster the desire to do something pretty, my life isn't like that, life is also ugly, you need to understand that get used to it.

Guest's picture

I don't really understand about arts (your arts?) but....why in sardine's can? I agree with some of us that its really indecent...babies are miracles...pure...soft...it is good if you can think of something that enhance/spread a good message from your arts which can contribute towards a better sense of human beings/feeling....

stevenadams's picture

haha! cheers!

Guest's picture

I'm just tryna fry chicken here and I find babies in a sardine can! lol...Well I guess art is supposed to be controversial right? To each his own.

Guest's picture

what is this...

stevenadams's picture

Hey thank you very much. Sometimes you not only have to push the fence back, but you have to knock it down and burn the bugger! Your comments are much appreciated. Cheers!

I absolutely respect what you have done. It is very risky and it takes courage to stand up to those who don't understand. I for one admire such a ballsy action.

stevenadams's picture

some of the most powerful art has been ugly, nothing wrong with upsetting a few people, i would feel like a failure if i didn't. Thanks for stopping by. Wink

Fantastic, I love them!! Judjing from all the coments you really succeded in creating all sorts of reactions.. Like I think all good artists do;) Art is ugly, art is beautiful, it's funny and anything your brain makes out of it.. An interaction between the two, the artist and the viewer.

stevenadams's picture

hey thanks, that means alot! i'm glad you like it!

Guest's picture

Coming from another artist, well done:) i came across it through Google somehow and it looks real! hats off to you, good work!

Art at its best.
