Artwork Description

A clouded leopard practicing her swordplay in a rainshower...

I'm rather fascinated with Ancient China, and the artistic cinematography in Hong Kong kung fu movies set in Ancient China, such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and "Hero" - which provided inspiration for this piece.

I also wanted to really have a setting that felt real - that felt like the character was really immersed in the setting - using lighting, perspective, and the rain to unify the piece.

This was a difficult piece for me, but also a very fulfilling one, in the challenges I posed for myself. I think it is too early for me to really say how well I did at those challenges, but I think it was definately worthwhile, and I'm proud of it =).

It seems that he used human leg structure in this piece. Otherwise the legs would not be as straight as they are here.

Wow, that's perfect... I am a little curious about her legs though. They are cut off in the image. Did you use feline leg structure or human?
