Artwork Description

A long title for a small picture! Done in postcard format (approximatively 7 x 20 cm, which should be 2.8" x 8") for a postcard exchange. These Weretrees are moving, and they don't like each other better than the wizards and other humans that dare to enter the forest.

Inspired by a lot of things, and mostly by the real (were)trees from the Verzy forest, France.

Thanks a lot, James! Painting it at this size was a real challenge. And I'm glad the result worked for you!

Thank you! I think I love painting trees Smile

The Verzy forest is close to Reims. If you're living in Paris, it's worth the visit! There's really a magical atmosphere there. The trees are called "faux de Verzy" and are actually beeches with a genetic mutation that makes them all crooked. Or maybe they really are Weretrees, as the mutation isn't completely undestood yet... Wink You'll find a lot of pictures by googling faux de Verzy, and if you want to go there, the site is identified on the Michelin road maps.

Great piece again. I love your watercolor style. But tell me, where is this Verzy forest exactly ?
