Artwork Description

This piece was inspired by the book 'Girl of the Limberlost,' in which an impoverished girl with a neglecting mother finds a refuge and hope of betterment through the Limberlost forest, which provides her a means of obtaining an education and supporting herself. I sort of began to view this forest in the book as a parental/provider figure, hence the subject matter of this piece. Watercolor 8.5' x 11'

Lovely and whimsical! And so nice to see traditional watercolors done so well! I love tree themes, and I love how you depicted this tree character.

Aha! I remember you from Elfwood!! Smile I love your whimsical palettes. Your style is very illustrative, so I feel like I'm being whisked into a traditional fairy tale when I look at your pictures.
