Artwork Description

This is the last in my series of Faeries for a greeting card submission. I thought this would be a nice tribute to those classical paintings where a young man is sleeping in the forest and lit by moon night. Of course in my version, the faerie is up to no good. The faithful dog is based on my Miniature Australian Shepherd, Freckles, who is a pretty good watch dog. Comments are welcome.

I usually start the painting in Corel Painter and then bring it into Photoshop to finish it. The problem with that is the darks get clipped and some of the colors get posterized (like here). I usually go back and even the darks, but I was rushing this painting and didn't do it here. That's why the darks don't match (No pasting! I paint everything from scratch, I made up the armor here). As far as the man not lying on the ground, I wanted to show more of his body.

What is she going to do in the painting?

why dont the darks on the armor and this mans chest line up with the ground where the light is not hitting it looks like you cut and pasted someone elses images im not saying.... just would look more realistic

About that faerie, her look is a little childish for her grown-up body, tough it's not bad. I like the atmosphere, like a mysterious summer dream. Nice moonrays.
You should call it ''sleeping beauty'' Wink

Art at its best.
