Hey, thanks a lot! I like those adjectives you are using.

Hi Taylor,

First off, thanks for an in depth and intelligent critique. That's always preferable and infinitely more helpful than "this is wrong, I don't like it, blah, blah, blah."

So I'll double check the issue you mentioned. This is all information that can be put to use in a future horse painting or drawing.

Keep drawing, because that's the only way to get better at art. And good painting needs solid drawing skills underneath it. The best thing to do is take things one step at a time- learn to draw first, then work on painting in greys, limited palette and so on before you step into full blown color painting.

Maybe I only noticed it because I am very into nature and am around a lot of animals at my job, but the proportioning is off. I'm kind of weird about these types of things though and I know that most people do not care about the physiology of what they are paiting, so I am sorry If one of those people are you. Mostly what I am seeing is a problem with the legs. I do a lot sketching and tend to get the cannon a little short and it looks as if you did too. It is not really too big of a deal, but it give your horse more of a ponies conformation rather than a horse. Kind of to late to change it though. Just ignore me If you think I'm out of line since this is all coming from a highschool student. Besides that, the picture is gorgous. I love the cool color scheme and the contrast! Wish I could be as good as you, but I can only do freehand sketches! Me and paint don't work very well together.

Adam, thanks for the feedback. I agree with you about the moon. The painting was for a magazine cover and the deadline was tight, so since the upper portion of the image was going to be covered by type, I left the moon a little vague. What can I say, that worked well for the cover, not as well for the stand alone painting. I'll probably go back and flesh out the moon at some point. Thanks again!

Hi Wickie, thanks very much for the comments. I emailed you about your question.

This is so beautiful. I am new to computers and to what is ethical. Would it be ok for me to use this as a tag? I don't know where else to go to find the nice ones I see that other people have. Even if I can't use it, I still think it is gorgeous.

Could do with a little more detail in the moon, maybe some craters and whatnot. But still, very impressive work.

Congrats =]

Art at its best.
