Artwork Description

Cover art for my book For The Love Of Monsters.

Latin inscription means "Love your Fate". That came about from conversations with old classmates and I listened to how much they miss the old days or what they would change if they could go back. I feel really out of place when these things are brought up because I would never go back and I wouldn't change a thing. I believe a person is the sum of their past experiences and I, personally, like who I am and where I am.

The picture itself is a spoof/parody/homage to Norman Rockwell's famous self-portrait. I had always felt a kinship with Rockwell and never understood why until recently. In the book "A New History of Art" the author gives reasons why Rockwell has been shunned by art critics over the years. And it's because his art needs no interpretation. The message Rockwell had to pass along is right there which made it accessible to everyone. That parallels my ideas and ideals about art as well. That is why I chose to pay homage to him on my cover.
