Madame de Malaren by elneskog
Madame de Mälaren is dedicated to my brother and sister-in-law, Peder & Maria. Two wonderful and beautiful people whos always encouraging me to work.
In 2011 they asked me if I wanted to make a mural in their newly built home in Mälarbaden, just outside of Eskilstuna, Sweden.
With this design I wanted to suggest something to bring a bit of contrast to the architecture of the house. Something with sudden, violent and natural curves, as if generated by the crack of a whip. And with a female symbol, to give the house, with its straight, heavy and somewhat masculine structure, an oppsite genus.
I wanted to incorporate some the regional symbols of the area. And this being Södermanland, those symbols are the carp bream, osprey and the white water lily. The white water lily(Nymphaea alba) was a perfect inspiration for the search of a leading character in the mural. Nymphaea - nymph derives from the greek mythology, describing a female nature deity. =)
