Artwork Description

Last week my girls and I saved a tigertail swallow (female: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papilio_… from drowning in a bucket. I had to carefully and gingerly get her by the wings and we laid her down to dry off in the sun, not sure if she was sooo wet if she would make it or not. And it didn't help it was a breezy day and her wings seemed "glued" together with water. We brought her flowers on the off chance that if she wasn't going to make it, she would have pretties that I've seen these butterflies dance and alight all over.

Our work paid off and she eventually took flight.

I was inspired by a friend to "immortalize" the female butterfly in artwork. And so I did. BJD inspiration for a butterfly.

Life is fleeting and beautiful. She was a flyaway beauty.

Watercolor w/ a wee hint of gold acrylic touches on 4 x 6 canvas.
