I Discovered you not long ago and I can say that your work is just what I was looking for :a perfect imaginary world .I tried so many times to represent what I was dreaming about but couldn't do it like you did .You've opened my eyes( in an artistic way) :)Moonpetals is one of my favourites because of it's tropical atmosphere.Your work is spectacular!!!
Well, I guess all of fantasy is cliche, so I don't know why mermaids should feel any more so to me, but they do. I only do them if commissioned. Anyway, no, the person was not Pisces, that was just by chance.
I'm sorry about the double post, but I went to get a cup of tea and this piece got me to thinking about a fairy tale I read when I was little. I can't remember the title, I read it so long ago. Anyway it was touted as the Chinese Cinderella story...for some reason I think the idea of a servant girl being elevated to Royalty is universal but then again it may have originated in China(universal because of the story of Queen Esther). At any rate in the Chinese story a young servant/peasant girl has a magical codfish guardian instead of a fairy godmother and after her stepmother forces her to kill him his scales become a beautiful gown and dainty little slippers made of gold. This reminds me of that story for some reason.
Sigh you don't like mermaids?(Is it because of the way they're usually portrayed?) Anyway I love this piece and it's probably because I'm a Pisces...Was the person who commissioned the piece Pisces born in February?...I'm only asking because of the lovely amethyst colored blossoms on the breeze and in the current and because of the Pisces symbol in the stonework...I love this and think it might grow on you...perhaps you'll do some more mermaids(for some reason because of your style I see a group of them riding catfish).
As usual spectacular, brilliant and beautiful!(Out of interest why do you not like mermaids?) In anycase the mermaid you portray here is magnificent! The detail of your work is spell-binding!I am in awe of you!I can (and do)gaze at your work for hours...your images spirit me away!(persephone)
how do u get the lighter parts of the painting?..those parts where it looks like u're looking through pieces of glass..
what a terrific concept. gotta love this idea. and the whole thing is almost surreal and wonderful looking. the that mermaid...original from anything i've seen yet it works---and it's a mermaid! =)
Yes, there are little faery people riding on the winged fish. Petals? Maybe. Whatever you want them to be. =)
(same person as above. I decided to lose the little note about the initials) Are those little people riding on the fish? I didn't notice til now. What detail! But where are they from? Are they the petals?
Grrr... It's not fair!!! How come I can't be such a great artist?!?! *pouts, gets immediately over it, and gapes some more* Oooooo... Purty...
Yeah, I don't typically do mermaids because I don't really like them. But this was a commissioned project, and so I found some way to paint a mermaid in my own style.
I love this piece! I cannot believe I am the first to comment on it. I of course adore the color scheme- but most of all I am happy to see a mermaid- it is the first i have seen in any of your galleries. It is absolutely breath-taking *Bunni Darling*
