Artwork Description

In asian lore, there are fox-spirits. These creatures are tricksters, most often taking the form of beautiful women in order to lure humans into their games.

o.o I have to say this, i just have to..You are one of the best artist I have ever come across. You draw the kitsune very very well, your art is just fantastic. I have a small obession with kitsunes, and of all the artist I've come across, you've got them down. You make your art so...so..I dun't know how to put it, it seems so alive? not in a realistic way, but in another way. I dun't know how to explain it. Kitsune*drool* I think I'll dissapear now...Keep up the good work...*Meep!*

Nope, just regular paintbrushes. I paint using lots of layers, so I slowly build up the intensity of the colors.

wow, your watercolor pieces are all very smooth and shiny. I wonder if you use airbrush??

This one took about 30 hours. That's about what most of my large watercolors take.

yes this one has a lot detail in it and the kitsunes are so cute. Hm, the background is also very interesting. Well done!
May I ask you a question? How long does it take to draw such a watercolor-pic? It looks like a lot of work ^^;.

I'm always amazed by the ethereal, diffused quality you get to your watercolor work - and this piece is certainly no exception! I especially love the way you illustrate plants and trees. This is one of my favorites of your recent pieces - very well done! Smile

Oh yes, I definately do preliminary sketches. And I test out colors in photoshop as well (handy use of layers and stuff) to see what works before I start in with the paint.

the detailing is awesome steffi, the little foxes remind me abit of the forest spirits in monoke with their weird faces,do u do preliminary sketches for ur paintings as i konw watercolours are sometimes uncontrolled , though obvoiusly not with your work which is very well planned out, but im just thinking that u cant really make alot of mistakes with watercolours cause of the muddying effect, nto that i konw much about watercolours.

No one does what you do with color and light ..and playfulness... I have watched your art grow over the last several years.. and you are a MOST amazing lady! Thank you for sharing so much!

Your cutest piece so far! All those little foxes are truly lovely, and if they won`t warm up one`s heart than the charming red sun must do so. Great pic for exploring, as many of your other works this would be simply perfect for a children`s book. But nowadays they put a lot of kitschy cheap looking Mac Donalds style stuff in those books...I really miss the times of Babar and Winnie the Poo!

Thanks! Yeah, I've been slowly getting more of a feel for my style myself....

You finally get to see it now. =)

Really nice scene Stephanie. There's definitely a consistency of style I'm seeing in all your latest work that I really like, most notably in the figures and trees that you do.

o this is just so magical steffi, i absolutely love the foxes on this one and the layout is just like that in a japanese garden, very ordered and beautiful. wish i could see the original , seems like thers alot of detail in it.
