Artwork Description

Self portrait. Had quite a bit of fun with this actually. Extremely different style from my usual. My digital work has a tendancy to be extremely tight but this consisted of lots of scribbling!

I especially like the winged fox. He's cute!

puimun's picture

yes, a silly fox squirmed his way into the picture! Thanks!

I've only seen a couple of your RL pictures. You're beautiful, but I guess nothing captures the soul more than a well-made self-portrait.
And there's that fox again! Cool

I meant inspire. Smile haha

A wonderful work of art. I've enjoyed all of your works, though I think I appreciate the skill put into this piece the most. I know how difficult it is to do a self portrait. Masterful. I do not think the person who said that it sucks really understands the feeling someone puts into their work. Such an aweful thing to say. Keep up the work Steph, you enspire us all.

Actually, there are several digital pieces here. White, Sparks, Catknot, Foxknot, Cradle of Life, and Dragonknot are all digital as well. As for the style of this one, I wanted to try something new and looser than my normal.

I love your work, I guess the only thing that puzzles me about this piece is you prefer to work in watercolors however the only real digital full color piece here is a self portrait.
This also looks unfinished and not nearly as many details as one of your watercolor but I appreciate it none the less. Thanks for the inspiration.

Yeha, I did several pieces with scratchboard many years ago but never really liked it. This is digital, and I worked from a mid-tone background to both whites and darks, so I can see how it might look like scratchboard too!

silvergrey's picture

I love how free it seems, and how it isn't washed-out looking colorwise like a lot of your others (not that I don't like them, your technical ability always astounds me! Smile
This one kinda looks like it was made on a scratchboard, which is a not often seen media, but I like the effect. (have you ever done a piece on scratchboard?)

This is my favorite self-depiction, thus far. You have a beautiful style, it contains both an impressionists feeling and yet the color scheme is uniquly individual to you, the artist. Seriously beautiful picture. Cheers.

^^ your work gives me inspiration. They're the best I've seen .. the details, the coloring, the style.. totally... makes it unique, awesome... Amazing is the right word ^__^

ericheumann's picture

Just beautiful. I wish there was a print for sale of this portrait.

Guest's picture

This is so beautiful it takes my breath away.

puimun's picture

No, I don't mind at all. =)

Is great. (That one guest was kind of rude, but that's just my opinion!) If you are wondering I used your art on my calendars. (personal ones for my computer) My mother put this bright red freaky (christmas) calendar wallpaper up on the desktop, so I decided to get rid of that as soon as possible. It was fun using your pictures on the calendars (much more calm colors). That doesn't bother you does it?

I love the hand gesture,it looks like you and the flying fox have both been painting... Stephanie! must have been the northern stars..ha

Stephanie, I love all your artwork,
this piece is a little different...but
it is very beautiful, what program do you use to make your digital art?
I want to try!!!!!

weyakin's picture

I really like how different this is from a lot of your other work (even though I love your other work)! You should go for the scribbling more often. I think it works for you.

puimun's picture

That's okay. =) It's happened to me too before. I deleted the extra ones for you.

Guest's picture

It's wonderful! Who says you have to always do the thing you do? It's nice to have a change now and again Wink
I love your use of the colors and the texture of it. And the fox, of course. Wink

tiranaki's picture
