Artwork Description

This is a follow up piece to "Relastra the Summoner". Here we have Relastra in her final transcended form, sharing some of the same tentacled elements of the creatures she summons.

Oh yes, and ladies, when you're explaining to your boyfriends your love affair with summoning Tentacled Horrors from Beyond, it's always best to do so naked.

Yeah, I was inspired by that piece. I actually had my husband take a photo of me in that pose (though I can't show it for obvious reason : ). His figure was too distorted (done on purpose) to use verbatum, but the basic gist of it I really liked. Artists use lots o' different references when we render our art and we also get our inspiration from many sources as well - including one another. He's also the reason why I decided to make a tutorial for this piece. I know, I know, not very original, but it was the kick in the pants I needed to actually get around to making one.

Did you take the pose from Don Seegmiller's painting "Heaven and Hell"? (http://www.epilogue.net/art/tech/don_seegmiller/hell23.jpg) It's exactly the same.. if you did you should probably give him credit, don't you think?

Wheee! It's done! Nice work, R! I enjoyed following your progress over in the WIP forum on this. You just can't beat a chick that digs slimy tentacles!

I wanted to add that I also have an art tutorial for this piece if anyone was interested. It also showcases many close ups of the details which are lost in the version above. The tutorial is located at http://www.wildlife-fantasy.com/artwork/tutorial/tutorial.html

Art at its best.
