Artwork Description

For addition to the Gallery of Souls, my stylized rendition of this daffy pixel-pusher at work, trying to capture the magic before the little buggers escape me.

And yes, I really do stick my tongue out when I draw. Smile

LOL You're not alone. When I'm really involved in a picture, I *HATE* to be interrupted - something my 8-year-old son has found out many times. The easiest way to keep the peace was to wait till he was in bed and my husband at work at night, so I could work in peace. I'll be so happy when school starts again... Smile

I have a weird habbit when I draw, I get very cranky and I ignore everyone else. If you try to talk to me, it's lost to my ears! Drives my mom crazy!

oh it's so cute! That really could be used as a children's book illustration. I love it! I've tried drawing cute dragons and gryphons and things like that... I can't do it. But you do a great job! Major kudos!

Thank you! What a lovely comment! I'll confess I'd tinkered with many different ideas, but when it came right down to it my silly streak prevailed and this felt closer to the "real" me. I'm still just a big kid at heart.

Don't you just hate it when the little buggers try to escape before they're finished? Great picture! The bright, cheerful colours combined with the exagerated expressions and B-E-A-Utiful linework gives it this wonderful, childlike feel to it. I repeat, great picture- this has brightened up my day.

So much fun and enjoyment in this piece, very nice to see alongside the beautiful artwork.

LOL! Umm....not sure who you are, but thanks.. *rubbing head from where I've apparently whacked myself* ;D

Man do I love this one. You have hit yourself on the head, and I may have to put a change of order!!!!

Now, THIS is a fun picture! I love the expression on your face and the richness of your colours. Keep doing work like this, it's a breath of fresh air.

LOL! I have been playfully teased about sticking out my tongue for years. It's become a running joke in my family now. The hilarious thing is that my son has started doing it when he draws too - yet another generation corrupted! Ha HA!! Seriously, thank you all very much for taking the time to comment - I truly appreciate hearing feedback from my visitors. Happy Holidays!

What a fun self portrait! I love your expression of determination. I can much relate to it (except that I'm more of a jaw grinderer than a tongue stick-outer).

Hey Amy! This is super! I think you have a really great imagination.

My favorite by far!!! Really wonderful and magikal Amy.

Thank you! You're actually the second person to mention to me that this could work as a children's book illustration - something I hadn't considered at the time I painted it. And as red, blue and purple are my favorite colors to use, I'm doubly happy to hear my visitors like it too.
I'd had a few different, more serious, concepts in mind for a self-portrait. But this was the one I kept returning to, because truth be told the goofy one just suited me more. Smile

This could be an illustration for a children’s book. It’s a very warm and humorous image. I think the red, blue and purple work perfectly together.

Great done! And I love the humor in it!

Art at its best.
