This was the cover for the overseas cover of this popular game. All those background images were originaly done in color.
Dont'ya hate all these freakin horse experts... sheesh, quotes like, "the anatomy is off" "its neck would be longer" "blah blah" "I draw horses all the time so I'm the ultimate horse expert in the world blah blah" (I spotted immediately that you used Muybridges stop motion photos the second I saw this. Truth is, all these so called horse experts don't know what they're talking about and are jealous when they find someone who can draw a horse better than they can.)
While that front leg looks strange to some, it's absolutely accurate. I used the famous "Animals in motion" book of photographs ( plate 67 and 71) by Eadweard Muybridge as my source. Great book for all illustrators ISBN 0-486-20203-8.
Horse could never have such a straight leg...and the rider should be in bit differetn possition- he should sit a bit more in the front.
But nevertheless its is lovely picture, and one of better fantasy cover horses that i've seen.
Looking great. Like the shadow and the movement...
