Artwork Description

Feel free to take a look at the closeup of her face
http://www.eyekon.org/~linda/autumnfae-closeup.jpgDuring spring, she is but seeds in the ground. A couple of rosebuds slowly appearing on thorny branches. Painfully bursting from the deep bowels of the earth; climbing quietly, slowly, out of the dust and dirt.

During summer... she spreads her wings but is locked to the ground. Her eyes are closed but her beauty is rich and full - she sways gently in the summer breeze. She hums along with the rest of the world around her - glorious in the rich warmth of summer.

During autumn... she is finally released. Like the leaves tumbling from the trees - she is set free. For a few wonderful weeks, she dances with the winds; she twirls and whirls across the sand-coloured fields and her voice can be heard whispering through the red-tinted forests. She is -alive- during autumn. But she, alike the leaves that dart and dance around her, will eventually tumble to the ground and remain still... slowly rotting away as nature around her does.

During winter, she freezes; she becomes encapsuled like the rest of the nature around her. Frozen as her limbs and wings were rotting and moulding with the leaves. She is held still and quiet like that famous princess in her glass casket. Not alive, and yet never fully dead, because nature never fades...

...and then spring comes, again, and the cycle is repeated... again, and again, as the years whisper by.

I have just discovered your work and am amazed by everything. This is by far, the most amazing piece of art I have seen by any modern artist. You have a gift and I commend you for your dedication to writing about your images and not just letting them speak for themselves (although many of them do). Are you going to begin selling prints? I've checked your sight and came up with nothing but cards, t-shirts, and tins. Again, thank you for your gift and the ability to share it with all of us.

I bought a t-shirt with this on it too!!

This is my fave pic of a female that you've done, I think. Her face is beautiful and the expression is wonderful. I personally don't see any porportionate mistakes. I think the anatomy is very well done- especially the hands! This is gorgeous. Don't let jeleous, talentless idiots bring you down. : ) Every artist gets a few bad comments from jerks. Just know that you are very, very gifted and you inspire a lot of people with your talent. Including me. Laughing out loud You've prolly answered this question 2 million times, but what program do you use to do these peices???

Guest's picture

I, myself, am just starting to draw and am awestruck by your talent. I know I'm only 14, but I dont think I could ever acomplish your talent. I tend to have a lot of trouble with drawing the upper body so if u can give me any tips I'd appreciate it. Thank you so much and never stop painting ^.^

Wow..I am really amazed. It looks as if it was all done on a computer animation thing..wow. I am into drawing eyes for some reason. Not regular eyes though, but strange mystic eyes. Your work has really inspired me!! I lllooooove, this picture!!! -rubs her chin- I showed it to my grandmother, she was impressed, but then she gave me a lecture on not looking at pictures if they dont have any clothes on them..-_-'!! Anywhoo..This is one of my favorite pics in the world, along with your rose bud ballerina girl!!! Hehehe..-huggles- Welp..I'm off!!

I love the warm autumn colors and the way the light filters through the trees is just amazing. I love the way the leavs whirl around her. You are an amazing artist.

Guest's picture

No words can describe it. The minute I saw it it took my breath away.I love it.

This, the original is far more lovely than the card I bought of it from tree-free greetings. It is really fabulous, I am in complete awe.

This is one of my very favorite works of yours. I do know you get thuosands of people calling to attention your marvelous work, but I think that there is more than "It's beautiful" that I can say. Your work is more than all those words put together. The detail is so unnerving that it seems you are riveted on the spot by the surreal eyes of the figure. You can feel the intangible wrath of your anger when you paint horror that is stunning and delicate at the same time, and you can feel the uncertainty when you paint of innocence, yet you're perfectly open-minded...it takes a true free soul and a gift of God to work paint and an idea into such an alluring, gorgeous state. Even the things that could never be beautiful are transformed entirely when you work on them. And you pour a different sense into what was once beautiful, sending luminous perfection at every angle of everything you do. I always look for more work of yours. Please continue to paint these exquisite marvels. {Distantmisst@yahoo.com}

Poser? *snorts* Posers have a very bad habit of looking as fake as they are. This how ever does not look fake, it looks as though the scene has been caught in time and anymoment it will go forward with whatever was happening...

I love the wings! The autumn type colours pop out of the picture while the background fades away. As for the comments on her thighs, who to say that fairies aren't built that way?

bloom797's picture

I "know" her thighs are fine...they aren't short in any way, shape or form. Any longer, and she "would" be out of porportion. Go feed your green eyed monster, it's obviously hungry.

Please Linda,I would like to be told whenever you are going to have prints available for any of your lovely pics....I would be very interested in purchasing a few!

Okay. So. I know I am viewing this work SO much later than everyone else has. All of her pieces have been up for some time now, but I've only just discovered them. I am saving all of Linda's images so that I can refer to them later and take a page from her book of incredible poise and talent in artwork.

I think it is the use of light and of shadow that especially draw me to her work. The glow that permeates the images seems to somehow resonate in me, resulting in a pleasant, warm feeling.

And, listen: this faerie's thighs are NOT short, or disproportioned in any form or fashion! People should learn to ensure that there IS a mistake to actually critique or correct before they speak. Or type. Or anything.

Heh. Okay, so I'm done ranting.

Linda: Bravo. Your work inspires me.
