Artwork Description

... The faeries fly the sullen winds on blackened wings, and in the nooks of the branches hide the blackened dust of corpses burned hundreds of years ago. They say witches hide, here. Lurking among the shadows in the depth of these woods - waiting for the occasional unwary traveller, so that they can slowly devour those innocent souls, and then hide the yellowed bones in the hollow trunks of the trees.Eshreemn - such a lovely place, but nowhere as lovely as it once was. Before the dark fae, before the witches, before the wars that turned the old forest to dust. It's said that the spirit of the forest was made bitter and restless, then, in those ancient times.

I love the subtle treatment of depth and the way you rendered the figure in the background...and those little eyes...wow!

The atmosphere and mood of the picture is wonderfully captured. The mist that hides the subtle figure is a great touch. The tree is amazing (i have a thing for trees Smile ). But my favorite part has to be the candle that just went out. I also enjoy the subtle secrets of the picture.

I especially like those candles... so faint, sparkling in the dark... and one's already gone out...

So very cool! I might drip a little more Spanish moss from the tree, though. I love the stuff...so moody....

What an eerie atmosphere you have created here. Makes me think about who actually lit those candles? And the eyes starring at me from inside the root in the right corner - is it a cat or something else...?
