Artwork Description

Fairytale style, I've been thinking about putting together a good number of pictures and stories for a fairytale book, mature and dark. We'll see what happens with that. This one is inspired by an old story - you might know which - but with a different theme. Trying out new techniques again, I love to test new things. On a sidenote, for all those who asked before when I was up to my ears in work, I'm free to do commissions for a while now.

wow! i just read the other comments and saw that some others thought there was a snow white feel to it also. if it is something else i will be shocked because i clearly see her in the woods, looking very snow white with the evil queen behind her with a apple ready. but ofcourse everyone sees something different.

very beatiful, has a bit of a snow white feeling to it.
i wish i had a million dollors to donate to your work, its so amazing. and since the harry potter person put there two cents in, i might as well. since all you work has meny details as well as hints of darkness i think it would be amazing to see a pic with an alice in wonderland theme to it, since it is already twisted. i cant even begin to comprehend how magnificent that would be. but thats just me. keep on inspiring us!

Once again, you have created something so incredibly beautiful in it's entirety. As I watched this image loading, I was listening to Sarah Brightman's "Deliver Me", and the combination of the two moved me to tears. Yes, the song is almost a complete contradiction to the picture, but they harmonised so perfectly. I very rarely cry over art (The last time was then we visited the Vatican), so thank you Linda. For making something so very special and sharing it with us.

I've been enjoying looking at your art for some time now, but this is my first time to comment. This piece has become my favorite of your work. The reason is that it reminds me of a place I visited in California that made me weep over the beauty of it. The mist and the most and the gnarled trees put me in mind of Muir Woods National Park. If anyone wants to walk into this picture, try going there. I agree with what another person commented - the atmosphere, the combination of eerieness and tranquility, work beautifully.

Your stuff is great, but I'm feeling too lazy at the moment to really go into depth about why and everything... More, I just wanted to ask if the fairytale was Little Red Riding Hood... I can see it, 'cos doesn't she go to pick flowers or something when the big bad wolf comes for her?

Anyway, I'm just guessing and playing around a bit. The story thing sounds like a great idea. Something like a picture story book for adults? I think it could do really well.... hmm... Anyway, goo luck with your work Laughing out loud

OMG,how wonderful.Your details seem to haunt me.The mood is peacful yet a scaryness drifts throughout the air.I was wondering, you seem good at fantasy..you're sort of my romodel...I would love if you drew something from a Harry Potter book?I'm crazy, but it's a challenge.I would love that,it would really inspire me...

Absolutely lovely Linda, like so many others in your impressive collection. One thing I respect in your art is how often you manage to transcend our much-maligned digital medium to the point where the viewer may focus more on the content as opposed to the tools that created it. With this piece in particular, I'm especially impressed with your background setting - do you use photo references for your forest and landscapes?

This is one of your best pieces I've seen yet! Simply amazing..I don't understand how anyone could make something so...so.....WOW! Do you write all the snippets/poems that you put under your pictures? I've been a fan of your art for a long time!!!!! Oh yeah, one ?. Did you delete some of your art that was previously in the gallery? One of them I really miss I believe was called "Cursed," but I can't exactly remember.

Could you imagine that even a little mexican girl as me loves and admires your work? All what you paint is incredible real and amazing.

Your techniques are amazing - but I'm not that keen on the subjects you paint. Can't have everything I guess? Do you have any tutorials? I'd dearly love to see how you approach something like this.

You are truly the greatest inspiration to me...just as I was about to turn my back on modern artistry, I stumbled onto Diabolical Rapture...and was instantly glued to your endeavours...I check your gallery constantly to see what you've done recently, and everytime I see your work, I become overwhelmingly inspired by you. I would love to have some of your prints as a major theme in my home decor, but I do not know if you are selling any of your work...(for now, the printed copies taped to my walls will have to suffice *grin*). I will be amongst those who purchases any books you come out with... I truly truly love your artwork...I don't know what else to say but that I hope to achieve your level of skill in the future. You will inspire me to keep trying till I get there! Thank you sincerely, you have my gratitude and worship *grin*

Wow! This is absolutely beautiful--stunning, in fact! I think all your work is magnificent, and it's always the little things that catch me up in it, or take me by surprise. For example, when this picture first loaded, my focus was drawn to the girl. Then my eyes followed the trail of flowers back, and I actually JUMPED when I realized there was a shadowy figure back the path there. VERY well done.

That is a very cute squirrel up there on that tree. It's a squirrel, right? What I am most curious about is, what size is the original? Had I made something like this, with such detail and care, it would most likely be ~8000px wide.

Most of the dresses that I have seen you draw are just beautiful and if I were you, I would consider sewing (if you do not already). Well in any case I'll try my best to sew what you have created. Do you creat these yourself or do you get it from somewhere? Well done.

I thought about Snow White and Hansel & Gretel before reading the comments ^-^ *is proud* I think the picture is a nice twist to the original tale, since Gretel was fairly stupid and annoying in it and it was always Hansel who thought ahead.... but I'm rambling ^^;
anyway, I always love the dresses and trees you draw... and I like this new gray look to your pics - it adds more depth, imho. and I only noticed the figure in the back when I looked at it for third time or so ^^; and for a moment I really stopped breathing. your pictures are always beautifully dark, but this one really scared me, once I took a deeper look at it. you just keep getting better and better ^-^

I love all of your images. I'm so glad I stumbled onto your gallery. Fairy Tales are one of my favorite subjects. I had a picture book with Cinderella's story in it that I wore threadbare when I was little. Though, I sort of wonder what you would make of "The Snow Queen".

Guest's picture

My god, it's amazing how every one of your pics is better than the previous!

Guest's picture

i would just like to say that this picture reminds me alot of snow white. am i even close?

Guest's picture

Amazing detail on the leaves, the trees are stunning. My favorite part, however, is the 'person' (for lack of better word) in the background, following her. It adds so much to the story.

I look at the old story one (if it's the right one) and the woods is completely different. Just pointing this out, it's not a bad thing, maybe it's sunrise or soemthing. Because it the older pic the woods is like a blue/grey and here it's a brownish tint. Was that on purpose?

Art at its best.
