A tribute to Joan of Arc
I feel the same way..she's always been a favorite heroine of mine.
most lovely! i love the expression in her face... powerfull! long live Jeanne! hurraiy!
I appreciate the input, and I am happy that you like this piece. Her expression is exactly as you say, and for the same reasons. Thank you again!
I think it's wonderful! Everything about it is perfect! And I think Joan's face expression is wonderful, because of the light coming down from the sky I get the impression that God is talking to her like the stories say he does, and he's probably telling her that her time is up, which would explain why she isn't in as much pain as she should be, because she knows it's over. I love how you colored it and shaded it, it's absolutely wonderful! ~Jess
Great design, though awfully sad to look at. Seeing her hands over her bounds make me very teary eyed.
The fire you drew is rather cool, it's like a fine veil over her being, beautiful and lively. Not like the hungry flame that blackens and devours all that it touch. The dark clouds, lightning and halo and the column going into the sky is fabulous back drop.
Her face...I'd tell you that I love it, but I feel that um, there should be more pain..perhaps even some sweat, or tears. Even if someone is content and not sorry for being burned alive I feel like she should be more tortured.
Though, having her look less tortured does make me feel better, I'm torn.
Thank You Anouk! The comment, thoughfulness and inspiration are much appreciated, Thank You again!! ;o)
The picture, the colors, the theme, the details, it all is perfect. Amazing..'
Thank You Cynthia, I wasn't sure if anyone would notice that about Joan in my piece, I decided this would be a perfect expression for her. Thanks for the comments! Take Care!!
You've done an EXCELLENT job capturing the agony/ecstacy of St. Joan. The torture and impending ascention are sooo well balanced in your work....wonderful, wonderful artwork Steve. CR
Thanks Christine.......Pencil is still my favorite medium. Glad you like!
And a most excellent point of view...lovely...
Thanks Steph!! I had fun doing this one, and you are the first to mention the halo, I am glad you noticed it! ) Take Care!
How come this hasn't had any comments? Her face, the flames and the halo/light all look awesome.
