This is the most impressive digital painting I have ever seen! I would not blink if I saw it in a museum among the old masters. i'm totally blown away. |

thanks to everyone who wrote so far, and to everyone to write in the future - if only for taking interest in my piece.
as Vera Lucia's hawk eyes spotted, Andromeda is completing the role-inversion symbolism by wearing armor (a woman in armor is another classical symbolism of a phallus in erection) and by wielding a sword (a direct symbolism of the erect penis) in a meaningful way threatening the beast.
in addition, Perseus is naked and chained, clearly at a disadvantage, and expressing passivity, and his penis is clearly unresponsive in all this distress.
many thanks for viewing, once more |

I cracked up the minute I clicked on this--not laffing AT it, but just the sheer irony of it is just totally cool! Hee hee hee....... "You GO girl!" Gawd, the file~size must be huge! Nonetheless, an exemplary example of fine digital work, well worth the Editor's Pick! Congrats, Christos! |

Anna Draconida 2002-07-16 |
Great picture but...What's the head of a poor decapitated tunafish doing on Perseus's face ? And what's this obsession of yours with phallic symbols and the penis in general ??? |
| (Christina Neofotistou) |
my "obsession" doesn't extend in real life, only in my art. and that "obsession" isn't limited to penises, but to the human genitalia in general. it's my small contribution to the fight against social hypocrisy: a lot of people don't like to acknowledge sex, driven by some taboo or another. my future profession will be a psychiatrist-sexologist. I can't leave these taboos standing.
about the fish: I'm sure everyone here understands how much surrealism is based on dreams and visions -it's a fantasy artists community, after all! it isn't always readily explainable why an artist imagined a man with a fish head.
thank you for your interest.

I am in love with that sky and sea, Christos... the colours are amazing. I love the symbolism, the composition and the obvious work and dedication that went into the making of this wonderful picture. Like Vera said, this is *Art*. |

This is absolutely beatiful. I didn't know one could do this with photoshop. And as a writer I am absolutely hooked on symbolism and hope that I paint pictures with words. You have certainly succeeded the other way around telling a story with a piece of art. :) |

a pity the netlike foam on the waves didn't quite work out,. the clouds are wonderful though, remind me of old columbia movies like odysseus :P, the characters in the pic do aswell. |
