This is a vast improvement over the original! It's great that you are willing to put in so much work to improve. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Thanks Patrick, I guess it means a great deal to me to be a part of Epilogue; and, I really DO want to improve as an artist. :)

Bwah! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
The desired response has been achieved. :)

Chris I think this is the best piece in your gallery. Your style is starting to emerge. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Stan, that comment makes my spirit soar, thanks...

Anneke Hut 2002-09-06 |
Yes, he looks ready to conquer the world! You have given him a very strong personality. I love his hair and eyes! :) |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Thanks Anneke! I'm glad that you got to see this! I'm really proud of it. I think I'm getting better!

Cynthia Rudzis 2002-09-08 |
Great braids! You've definately achieved the look of a Norse God, Christopher. ;) |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Thank you Cynthia!
I like to fantasize that I have the blood of a legendary viking warrior flowing through my veins. ^___^

igino 2002-09-09 |
Remarkable! You never desist from a work in progress, do you? :) Anyway, got to tell you that you REALLY improved a lot on shading and stuff. Especially the hair is MUCH better that before. You might pay some more attention to color saturation if the skin, but that's all the citicism I have.

| (Christopher Shepard) |
Cool!
I will definitely consider the color saturation factor.
Thanks a lot for stopping by Igino!

You've put a lot of work in to this piece and it has paid of Chris. Great job! I especially like the hair and the intense look in his face. Well done. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Thanks a lot Chris!
This Gallery of Souls thing is fun!

Marilyn Alice Boyle 2002-09-16 |
You know Christopher, I kept track of your progress in the forum with this one. I admire your tenacity and I see it sure paid off! This is terrific and somehow suits you perfectly as one of the souls in our Gallery. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Thank you! And, I really am this good looking! You know, I think "MAB" would be a really cool nick name for you, has anyone else ever abbreveiated your name like that before? Just an idea. Thanks for the comment! :)
|
|
Marilyn Alice Boyle 2002-09-25 |
Heh, Chris! My husband calls me Mare and other nicknames I'll never tell, and I've had Maril, Marilee and Moo (my daughter...don't ask!) but never MAB ~ sounds cool to me! Are you really this drop-dead handsome!! :) |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
I can't believe no one has ever called you MAB before! It seems so perfect. As far as my looks go, well, maybe I would look more like this after Lipo and dermabrasion *LOL* But I have had one person say that it could be my brother!

Aside from that fact you have obviously improved tremendously since your first posts, you are what Epilogue is all about and stands for. A true "Artist Peer" who utilizes Epilogue and gives it its full value. Also...Great portrait! Any Vikings in your line?
P.S. I noticed up there in the posts that Igino was here. Glad to see he is still alive. Thought he went off with Elvis for a bit. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Thanks a lot Steve, I'm glad that you consider me an artistic peer.
Sometimes I feel like I don't have the right to comment on some the galleries around here because of my lack of experience, but I can't help it. The interenet has made the world a smaller place, and now even a regular guy like me can fraternize with accomplished artists.
Yah Igino is still alive, I personally invited him to come and take a look at this pic; I knew he had been following the progress of it for about a year. Anyway, he obliged me and it's always flattering when he gives me a comment. I credit Igino with helping me to overcome my artistic insecurities. He told me anybody could be as good as him with enough practice and dedication. I'm still not at his level, but it sure was encouraging to hear that from a world class leevl artist like Igino. :)

Steve Ferris 2002-09-28 |
Your welcome. Yeah it was flattering to me when Igino came all the way to meet me in person, "just to shake my hand" he said. We traded art pieces that day and I was equally pleased to meet him. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
What!?! You met Igino in person! I can't believe it! He flew all the way from Germany to meet you here in America, incredible. What does he look like? I found half an image of his face on one of his many web sites once, and then mirrored it, it didn't work too well *heh heh*. he looked like a frog! Too bad, I don't think he'd ever want to meet me in person, I think my schizophrenic comments frightened him away. I was sort of his obsessed sycophant for a while. Oh well. You're a better representative of American artists anyway. What did he do, just come walking up to your door one day!?!

Igino was doing a "Summer-Work-Project" with Donato Giancola. He found out I am also in NY and politely asked to come over for a visit, to meet me. We tried to accomodate Igino, even cooked him dinner but a schedule conflict put his visit off to the next day where he visited my daytime studio at the University of Stony Brook. We had a nice chat, traded art pictures and I put him back on the train to Brooklyn.
Very nice, warm guy Igino is. I'm sure he will go far with his desires in the artworld. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Cool story. Yah Igino is definitely a nice guy. I wonder if anbody ever talks about me in their gallery, like we've talked about igino in mine. Hey Igino, if you ever read this, don't you feel loved!

Walt Bayless 2002-10-08 |
Very nice! I agree with the rest of these folks, you really do improve with every painting and have a wonderful sense of drama. |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Wow! I got a comment from Walt Bayless!
Thanks!
I have to give credit to Patrick McEvoy for pushing me to new levels artisticly.
He initially did not approve this one. After I got some great feedback from the forum, I was able to come up with this new better version!

I really like the expression; the eyes are so intense. The strong colors in the background really make the face stand out. It's also pretty cool to see I'm not the only one who uses Corel Photopaint 7. ;) |
| (Christopher Shepard) |
Would you believe that I won an original, unopened copy of Corel 7 for $1.00 on eBay!!!

Bill Corbett 2003-02-01 |

| (Christopher Shepard) |
Thanks Bill! I consider this to be one of my best works to date. ^__^
