Fantastic ink work, Luis. The proportions are very good on this rendering. I like the use of white pencil for the highlights. Great job on the feet, by the way. |

Cute underwear! ;-) And YOU don't look bad either. This is a very interesting technique, you must have an awful lot of patience to do all this scribbling. |

Thanks. I wish I owned a pair of boxers with skulls all over, but I have yet to see them. I use cross hatching pen and ink in my work occasionally, but not often, atleast not in this manner, but I was happy with the results of this piece.

I'd type a comment...but I have to wipe the drool off my keys first!
;)
Great work Luis...the white highlight is a nice touch and I'm amazed you don't have carpal tunnel after all that meticulous cross hatching. |
| (Luis Diaz) |
Let me tell you Cynthia my hand hurts more these days, but its not because of my art, but because I worked as a graphic designer for almost 3 years for a network news company. Bastards.
Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Hey man, you could be an erotoman hell-beast:)) But I'm sure you'll teach some damn (ink and pen) trick to the Devil:)) Never stop your art. Coool! |

Dude, your perspective ROCKS! And I so love a good B&W....awesome.... |

I was so busy drooling over the subject matter (love the skull shorts BTW!) that at first I didn't notice this was done in ink not pencil. DAAAAMN! I tried crosshatching and pointalism once. Once. You've got patience that's for sure! |

Christopher Shepard 2002-09-06 |
I like the form and range of tone you were able to achieve with your cross-hatching technique. |

Yo Luis,
Excellent work. I like the pose and your great technical ability togheter with your inventive! A genuine piece of art!
Bravo!
Ciao-Ciao!
Francesco (Frank)
PS: Have you tried to imagine to put an halo on the small-yourself crouched down on the shoulder of your big-yourself?

I thought it said enough with the horns on the larger figure. Didn't want to overdo the angel/devil idea too much. Thanks for the insight.

Yup- thats you. No doubt about it. It6 always amazes me how your work has so much going on but doesn't seem crowded or busy- just rich.
Wouldn't I love to know what he's thinkin. |
| (Luis Diaz) |
Heh. Heh. Thanks for the compliments, buddy.

What's crackin' brotha? Nice piece, I'd love to see you work in a realistic style more often. You do it well. ~M~ |
| (Luis Diaz) |
Getting in the mood for realism recently. It is just a constant fight sometimes.

Luis Diaz Hi Luis!
Wow, what can I say that hasn't already been said? Oh well, compliments bear repeating, I guess.
This is fantastic, on so many levels. Concept, composition, anatomy, perspective and technique... every part of this is at the same high level of excellence!
I save a few pieces now and then to my hard drive, to study as "lessons." This image is one of them. I've worked in pen and ink myself, and I know how tedious it is, and how meticulous you have to be-- the image has to be full-blown in your mind before you start, because you sure as heck can't make many 'on the fly' changes.
It's also hard to subjugate that medium to the subject, and you've certainly accomplished that here. It's the message, the mood, that comes through loud and clear-- THEN you start enviously admiring the technical side of it. ;-)
Bravo! *stands and applauds*

Whoa, sexy! Nice horns, to boot. I really love the inkwork here--the way you've done it with all hatching and very few lines that I can see. Fantastic stuff. I'm always a fan. |
| (Luis Diaz) |
I have always enjoy looking at your work. It seems a lot of people enjoy this artwork a lot. I have to do more pen and ink or more self portraits.

Nice It is an excellent drawing, and what everyone has said above. But may I point out that the only "fantasy" part in this drawing is those horns added to your head? Well, maybe you can count the little you on the big you's shoulder in, but that is surrealism instead of fantasy. Okay, I am not really criticising your art, not at all. What I am trying to say is, borrowing your post board, how we can define fantasy art? The mods are being really strict on selecting the submitted pictures but it can still pass as long as I paint an ordinary man and prolong his ears in photoshop and call it "elf." Again, I am not criticising your art, this drawing is fantastic, just that I am bitchy and crazy and need to fart in public, and I mean no offend to anyone.
p.s. Nice body. |
