Hi Dan It's awesome again, as always! The wonderful skincolour and background, also the clothes and hands, all so perfectly detailed. I'm very impressed by your skills, Dan! :) |

Thanks for the kind words, Anneke. I'm in the process of making the helmet larger. My younger brother pointed out that it was a bit small for my head. I tend to agree. I'll up date the painting when I finish.

Thanks, Cynthia. I get my sense of humor and my eyes from my mom.

Dan, very nice painting. I like the multi-colored skin tones, the drawing of the hands and the background. Looking forward to seeing your next work. |

Thanks, Stan. I'm going to try another Viking painting. Only this time I'm going to use a photo as reference instead of the mirror. Maybe something with a little more action in it!

Great job, lot's of character! |

Thanks, Christopher. For some reason it's hard for me to view my self protrait without being super critical. I'm already thinking of doing a different one. Something better. Wish I didn't have to work for a living so I could paint all day! Thanks again for the kind words.

Dan, I honestly feel that this is good enough to be published as it is.
Personally, I like art that isn't perfect, but that has a high degree of style or technical abilty; otherwise, all your doing is reproducing a photograph. I think you have a lot of style and personality in your work. The only real nitpick that I've ever had is that some of your proportions have been a little off, but this can be easily corrected by using simple rules of thumb. I suggest you buy a reference book called "Dynamic Anatomy" by "Burne Hogarth", it contains hundreds of classical proportional techniques used by the masters, and I think it could really help you pull off some of those difficult poses. I respect your art because it's original and straight from the heart, created from scratch just like my favorite artists did; Buscema, Frazetta, and Boris to name a few.
Keep up the good work! |

Thanks a bunch, Christopher. I know I have trouble with proportions at times. I'll have to work a little harder on it. Thanks for the great compliments and understanding my work. I've never heard of Buscema before. I'll have to check him out. Thanks again.
