Wow, Tom, this has come out very well! I took another look at the original and I can see some of the stuff you've added/changed, like the rock formation on the left. The stand-out for me (as you can probably guess!) is the work you did on his physique - tremendous - as it's even stronger with the colour. Great work! |
| (Tom Lavelle) |
Thanks Ishan, I'm starting to feel more comfortable with the digital as I do more of it, learned alot with this one, the pencil start was a big help, I really like that mix (pencils & digital), and will be doing alot more of it....

This is excellent Tom!! you've made the coloring look like watercolor. The fleshtones look great, well just everything looks good really!! Ooo I feel inspiration coming on!! :D |
| (Tom Lavelle) |
Thanks Bill, Im glad this looks traditionally done to you, was trying for that look, also really appreciate your comments and support...

Those flesh tones are just beautiful... And I like how you managed the border between his horsebody and his humanparts. I think that's the most difficult part at a centaur. |
| (Tom Lavelle) |
Your right on Chalcara , that was the most difficult area (blending torso's)and thank you for noticing...

Sorry for double posting But I've just noticed his tail! It's POINTED like a devil's tail. *snickers* Now THAT's unusual for a centaur. I like it! You've put that much detail in this image, that every look on it reveals so much new things. That must have been such a lot work! |
| (Tom Lavelle) |
Hi Chalcara, dont worry about the double posting, Centaur Scout likes the attention, being a kinda dark character I threw the devil tail in to ad to that feeling, and painting over the pencils went faster than I thought it would , just followed my pencils carefully, the original pencils and composition & reference seemed to be most of the work ,also looking forward to your next character....and thanks for your interest...its well appreciated..

Even better in color! a lot of subtleties popped out in this version - for some reason the reflections are especially wonderful in this one. Very fine work! |
| (Tom Lavelle) |
Hey Patrick, thank you ,Im trying to work on developing and improving my painting, so im glad you like this and find it better than the last version, im always looking in your gallery to see how you handled things , and your comments always inspire me....

I love this image particularly because I'm a sagitarius and the centaur/ bow and arrow is the symbol of my sign....but aside from that I really love the muted color palette and the composition. Excellent work! |
| (Tom Lavelle) |
Hey Erika, I thought some one would pick up on that sooner, Im also a sagitarius(12/1), also thanks for your nice comments on this...
