Very Nice! Very nice work. I've been watching the movie trailers and getting a little anxious to see Fellowship when its released in December. I love your Tolkien work and IÂ’m glad itÂ’s around to keep the appetite strong, so to speak. | | (christiaan iken) |

Yesss! This is the old Christiaan! I loved your works in Elfwood, because the most picture were living. Some of your picture here, in Epilogue was too static, but I think your strong is in the stirring scenes. This pic is fantastic, and great in the colors too... I think it is the really Chris! I like this pic. | | (christiaan iken) |
thanks liptak, i dont see why you think i do more actiopn pics on elfwood, most of my pics arnt aactiony, but i guess after doing some rpg stuff. i like doing scenes with action in em.

My favorite foreground of your LOTR series so far, and I love the background, even if it doesn`t have the same depth as on the Legolas and Gimli pic which (as I mentioned) puts a Bryce 3D rendering to shame. Yellow/red and blue/black gradient sky works well here, you managed to make this standard setup look really cool, kinda difficult since most of those skies turn out rather kitschy, well done. The silhouette battle has high graphic impact, brings movement into your composition without distracting from the main subjects. I like how you loosened up with detail on the flames, think it`s good you didn`t go finicky there. The lighting on the grass is perfectly moody, no complaints with that! As for the horse, I think you did a great job on it, a friend of mine sells those Arabian stallions, all I know about those horses is that they are damn expensive, so I can`t really critisize on anatomy and stuff here, for me it looks ok (apart from the leg issue Melissa already mentioned). The King, though well lighted, seems a bit theatrical to me, kinda like characters on medieval paintings or wall carpets, not stiff actually but the dynamics and depth don`t quite convince me here, well after all it`s hell of a difficult pose. His lower right leg seems a bit short too, and the hands are as usual a bit awkward, your grownup hands look more like children`s hands sometimes. In general, your anatomy style takes away all scariness from your characters. With a hobbit, this may be great, but with things like the Balrog, a Nazgul or a dragon it tends to look slightly ridiculous. Not one of your pics really scared me, though the scene setups certainly would be pretty dark and foreboding many times! But your stylized anatomy lets everything appear unwillingly comical...maybe you`re destined for perfect children`s book artist, and this is in NO way an insult, I love children books a lot and consider the artworks in them as equally amazing to grownup book illustrations! Most of your dragons, if meant to be scary or not, look chubby-wubby cute, clumsy and lovable, I don`t think it must necessarily be a weakness, many artists try to produce so called kawaii stuff but it just turns out pure ugly. Better to paint scary stuff in a comical way than ugly I`d say. Even the Nazgul rider has this unwilling funny touch, and it`s for almost 100% an anatomy issue, your colors, textures and lightings are extremely sophisticated, just the anatomy turns scary into comical. I must enforce that this is my persoal impression of your work, I`m sure others see it differently. | | (christiaan iken) |
god took me two hours to read that.P

I would prefer it if you took two hours to answer. But than, you need your time to paint, and I am just rambling around all the time. (PS: Did you REALLY read it all the way through?? I mean you don`t even sound upset, I start feeling ignored :P) | | (christiaan iken) |
