everytime I see images like this I think how much I have to learn... great composition, colours and everything. |

Wow, thanks a lot, Dani! I always feel like I have a lot to learn too... believe me, it never ends. :)

smashing :). an amazing composition and very deep reds. quite alot o depth to this piece i reckon!. Classic damsel in distress goodness. |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Thanks, Marley - it was a difficult one composition-wise. I had to get in all the elements they needed on the cover, plus put the fold in the middle, PLUS make room for the logo on the top left... glad you liked it!

Stunning, Patrick, your use of the red tones just blow me away, a beautifuly crafted composition my friend! |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Hey thanks as always, James! You might be interested to know, speaking of the reds, that I started with just the sky - red, purple and orange streaks with some yellows on the right side - and built up everything in transparent strokes above that. So there are lots of the BG colors in the characters and all the foreground elements, which I think added a sense of unity.

Oooooo, nice colors. I love the composition. Very cool :) |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Hey, you're very nice to say so, Christine - thanks!

Wow- Patrick, you really seem to be very busy at the moment – so many interesting work you did lately – you get better and better! Respect! If the RPG book is available online somewhere I’ll definitely buy it! |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Thank you, Uwe! I've been so busy you wouldn't beleive it, to tell the truth. Not that I'm complaining! This one is available online from www.herogames.com - just click the "online store" link at the top. :)

That's got to be one of your most ambitious paintings to date. Great use of perspective and colour. I'm wondering what the inspiration for the styling? - It looks a bit like a parody of the Vallejo era. :) |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Hey, thanks! This does indeed have more than its share of S&S cliches, but actually the elements themselves were handed down by the editor, and I simply put them in place as best I could...

I saw you try and sneak this passed me, well it won't work! Man, I really really like this, I've been into reds a lot lately for some reason too - so that's good timing. I looove the background detail. I'd imagine you spent some real time on this :) |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Damn... tried to get JUST ONE past you and couldn't do it! Thanks for the comments! This one was a bit of a rush job - their original artist pulled out and I had just a couple of weeks to do it. Of course, I was already booked up for most of that time, so I actually ended up doing the rendering for this one in about 16 hours.

Cool work Patrick! I like the dragon-head-vulcan - or whatever that is. Like also the dynamic in it.
Hm, one day I have to create a painting, where a woman rescue a man ;-) |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Thanks, Rita! I hope to see your painting someday - it's a much better idea. :)

This has a sort of retro-classic fantasy ambience in my opinion. Beautiful red color scheme. This is what I wish the Masters Of The Universe movie could have looked like (Castle Greyskull). I wish I could paint clouds as well as you too, I wish I had your skills, especially your intuition for composition. :) |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Hey thanks Chris - and it's good to see you're posting some new stuff lately, too! Composition is tough, for sure, but as you know it's the starting point for any successful picture. In some ways it's like a house of cards, where every part is supporting every other part. But when done right, you don't even notice it!

Earl Norem Patrick, this is excellent! The layout and colors really remind me of Earl Norem's work like those old He-Man Golden Books covers. I love the skull castle and smoke effects. The sky is really awesome as well! |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Thanks, I'm glad you think so! I had done a painting a few years back with a skull castle and red sky, and I was glad to get a chance to do a similar theme now that I'm better at it!

Hey good job Patrick!
I wanna see your comic book too!
I have some ideas myself! lol
Later,
Steve

Thanks Steve! This one printed out really well, too - I was very happy with the look of the book. Can't wait to see your comic book ideas, either; I'll be they're cool.
