May I use this on a website to picture a Shrrg, a gigantic wolf species from the Inheritance Cycle books? |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Hi! Glad you like it. I'm afraid I don't own the rights to this image - you would have to contact Fantasy Flight Games here in the U.S. Thanks!

Reference Shot May I link this for a novel? One of the characters transforms into a dire wolf like this and I would like people to understand what they look like in this form |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Sure! Feel free. :)

Be my guest. :)

vfritts I like the drawing very much. However, i question the title. The dire wolf was by definition feral. To call it a feral dire wolf is redundant. |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Hello, and thanks! Well, I don't come up with the titles on these, so you can blame Fantasy Flight if you like. :) But actually, I think the reason they said "Feral" is because each of the royal children of course raised their own Dire Wolves, and they were the focus of a lot of the cards in the set. So none of them were Feral - this is a dire wolf out in the wild, not raised with the kids.

Even in a winter setting you got textures, that rocks. Diggin those tree's.... my tree's always look funky lol. I swear to god, if i see a wolf like that I'll probably die before it gets to me... |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Yeah, I'm all over the textures these days... :0 Even when something's smooth I'm scuffing it a little. Glad you like it - thanks!!

Now that is a wolf, the proportions of this particular one feels very real, especially for his face. Patrick, to date, my favourite wolf i have seen. Not too photorealistic (i get tired of those), non too exagerated ;). 3 thumbs up! |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Wow - favorite eh? Thanks! Sometimes I do things that start to look a little photoreal, and do my best to change them. I'm more interested in a colorful painted style (as I'm sure you've noticed) like my favorites: N.C. Wyeth, Steranko, Frazetta. Not that I'm that good! :)

That's a beautifully painted dire wolf. I had another card for the winter edition myself and faced the challenge of painting "Ghost" among other Characters on the same card. They are so much harder to paint then it looks like. And I wish I had seen this earlier ;) |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Thanks Natascha - when I started doing the Game of Thrones art (can it be over a year and a half ago??) I did a few Direwolf cards. I didn't really have the hang of doing wolves yet, and they weren't... really good. :) So it was nice to have a chance to redeem myself!

Really cool wolf Patrick, I'm enjoying these CCG pictures of yours! :) |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Thanks Bill! I'm (sadly) starting to think of myself as a digital artist first these days, even though my main love is Oil painting...!

Hell that would be a cool pet! Just think about walking down the road with this pet on your site, you never will have any problems anymore – lol –
Hehe – and about your “first love” oil painting (Bills comment) well, I maybe get one finished the next time between all this digital stuff – man it’s great to have all the mess on your cloth again :-) – but oh well I never could hold a deadline with oils :-( - so I just keep trying to get the look of my digital pieces right…

| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Glad you liked it, Uwe! I'm doing a few oil paintings to sell (hopefully) at GenCon and Dragon*Con this summer. It is nice to be able to do them once in a while. I even love the way they smell!

Awesome work Patrick!! Very familiar game character (Dire Wolf) ...great to see your version...I think you can appreciate these characters more when you have played some of theses games...This one really has a supernatural ferocius look..great job.. |
| (Patrick McEvoy) |
Thanks, Tom! I liked doing this one a lot. Sorry I've been so not here the last few months... My attendance has been spotty lately, mostly due to being very busy! Especially so with Con season going on (I went to Dragon Con and GenCon recently). I'll try not to be a stranger!
