He reminds me Eowyn other artist painted. He still looks like a buy but if I'll polish him more all will be lost. Maybe I should leave some flaw and have the face I liked better. _________________ Portfolio www.Sirielle.com

I did this mostly to show you where to fix and how to fix the underlying structure. Applying the character to it, it all you, of course.
Maybe will help?
Hopefully the video will work, and make sure that the sound is on.
Oh, and do you have any idea how hard it is to time your talking to the video? GAH. _________________ Epilogue * My DeviantArt * My Blog |

You are amazing! Thank you so much for that!
I'm just watching, you know - the original in pencil had the closer eye on the right position (more or less) but I thought it was off and moved it closer XD

You're welcome.
Sometimes it's easier to explain something and show something at the same time. I'd never tried doing a video paint over before, but I liked being able to explain why I was doing something as I was doing it.
If it weren't for the damned editing time, I'd probably do a ton more. _________________ Epilogue * My DeviantArt * My Blog |

20 minutes XD He looks even more different on the paint over but I know what areas are off and how to work on them, I'll try it later. But will start up with the oldest image saved, maybe it will give result closer to the way I wanted him to look like. Thank you again!
What way do you record it? Is there a feature in Painter to do it (there is 'record stroke' thing in there but it does nothing for me) or you use some external application? I wish to record my own process just to see what I do during the way too much time I spent on images comparing to results. _________________ Portfolio www.Sirielle.com

I'm using an external app (Snapz Pro for the Mac), but you can use Painter to record progress. It's called "Scripting"
but it's jumpy and I get weird results from it sometimes. If you work on layers it gets wonky quick for some reason. What you need is a screencap program that does video.
However: a warning.
Screencap videos are HUGE and bulky and take up a lot of space. The editing process is a pain, too, if you want to put them up somewhere for people to view. I basically left it to upload to my video editor overnight then edited it and added the audio track this morning. _________________ Epilogue * My DeviantArt * My Blog |

I edit home video often, so that part would be easy if I only had a recording. I'll try to record something in the future.
Painter generally often crashes layers, I wonder if that has been fixed in version X. _________________ Portfolio www.Sirielle.com

Melissa, you are the awesomest!
and I almost died of joy when I heard your voice! Now you are somehow more real. _________________ Constanza Ehrenhaus

Haha... I sound like a doofus.
But, I know what you mean. It's easy to forget sometimes that we're typing at real people. Sometimes hearing a voice, or seeing pictures or video is enough to remind us of that. _________________ Epilogue * My DeviantArt * My Blog |

I'm moving from WIP to WIP and nothing is finished. I watched the tutorial again and took a look at this skinless lad (rotated) and finally after a few hours (not 20 minutes, unfortunately) I got this:
Edit. I just red hotlinking is not allowed at that img host, so changing it into thumbs:
/deleted image/
And if you see here anything else tell me. This is not image with that girl which was a different thing (and wrong moment for posting), now it's ordinary WIP waiting for critical eye and correction _________________ Portfolio www.Sirielle.com

Hey, Karolina.
I really like your male characters. They're so Elvish and noble. There are some problems here. One thing I think you should look at closely is the the indention between the mouth and the nose. Right now it looks like it's been scooped out with a ice cream scoop - and you do this on all your drawings. The shadow doesn't go all the way down to the top of the lips. Usually there is a highlight there.
I know you like almond-shaped eyes for these characters, and I do too! But they always look flat to me. Perhaps if you studied some photos of different Asian people you could see how to more accurately paint almond-shaped eyes more realistically.
I made up an animated gif for you to see how your actual facial structure is, and the last image is a suggestion of how the facial structure could be improved.
Anyway, I'll be without my computer for a few days. So I'll check in on this thread when I can. Hope the .gif was helpful!
