When my son was in high school he needed community service hours or research paper writers to graduate. I read an article in the newspaper about a local program called RTI- Return to Innocence. My son went to a local dementia care facility every Saturday morning during the school year to work with dementia patients. He would sit with them and browse through magazines. When the person recognized something familiar, say a picture of a vintage truck ,my son would help the person cut it out. Eventually all the patients with the help of the young students, made collages of their memory pictures. A local art gallery permitted them to have an art show! The students dressed up and so did the dozen or so patients. Their families were invited to attend. My son went on to art school and is a successful graphic designer. I know this program not only helped the patients but the students as well. So glad to know about other programs that are addressing these needs in a community.

Art at its best.
