All Epilogue members are welcome to submit work to Epilogue Magazine. If you are not currently an Epilogue member, sign up now! Membership is free.
General
Submit only your best work. We will consider only one story, one poem, and
one article submission per author per month (and two images per artist), so use your discretion when submitting! All work submitted must be entirely original--absolutely no fan-fiction (or fan art), derivative fiction, or RPG-system based fiction will be considered. The Epilogue Editors and Staff will select which submissions to include in the publication. Submission does not guarantee inclusion.
What types of submissions do you accept?
Short stories, serialized longer fiction, poetry, artwork, tutorials, and reviews.
Before submitting, please make sure you have done the following:
- Use your word processor's spellchecker, and have a friend read over your work if you're still in doubt.
- Consult the Epilogue grammar and style guides--have you fallen into any of the common traps?
- Include your contact information with every submission--that is, your
legal name, email address, Epilogue username, mailing address, the title of the work to be considered, any web site you'd like us to link to, and a brief (300 words or less) bio.
Guidelines for Short Stories
Short stories should be between 1000 and 3000 words in length, should have a clear beginning, middle, and end, and should fall clearly within the fantasy, sci-fi, or horror genres. Our ultimate goal is to publish a semi-pro level magazine, so please make sure all submissions are as polished and professional as possible.
Illustrations of stories are welcome and encouraged. Be sure to include the title of the illustration and the artist.. Illustrations MUST BE submitted
separately! See Art submission guidelines below.
Guidelines for Poetry
Poetry should be no more than 1 page in length, and should live up to the same standards of quality as your prose. Although certain artistic liberty may be taken with grammar in poetry, please make sure it still makes sense. If in doubt, try reading your work aloud to see how it sounds before submitting.
Guidelines for Serials
If you would like us to consider your novella or long story (3000 words or more) for
Epilogue Magazine, please submit a query with a brief synopsis and the first few pages of the story. Please do not send anything over short-story length until we have contacted you to express interest in using your serial.
Guidelines for Articles, Reviews, and Tutorials
Articles, reviews, and tutorials should be no more than 1,500 words in length. If you are using any image content, please submit the ENTIRE article (text and print resolution image files) in a .zip or .rar file for our consideration. Please keep your reviews objective. Absolutely no personal attacks, unfounded accusations, or similar rudeness will be tolerated. This type of behavior may be considered slander, and will never be considered for inclusion in Epilogue Magazine. Substantiated personal opinions are fine. Flames are not. Use your discretion.
Guidelines for Art
You may submit ONLY TWO images per month for our consideration. All images submitted
to Epilogue Magazine must adhere to Epilogue's standard
submission guidelines for artwork. When you submit art, please accompany it with a short blurb (no more than 500 words) about the creation of the work, or what it is about.
Please submit all art in .tif format at a resolution of at least 8.5" X 11" X 300dpi. All art submissions should be compressed in .zip or
.rar format. Be sure to include your name, email address, and Epilogue gallery
URL with all submissions. If your art is chosen for the cover, we may also wish to do an interview with you.
If you are submitting an illustration of a story, be sure to include the story
title and author's name.
*Cover art for each issue will be chosen by the staff from the art submissions.
For an image to be considered for the cover it must fit the theme, be of
extremely high quality and lend itself to being a cover.
