Artwork Description

I used salt in this one too. The unicorn is done with acrylic. So it is a mixed media.

Hello Marilyn. I just love your gallery and this is one of my favorite pictures. I hope you don't mine. I printed this on christmas and gave it to my sister as a christmascard. She really liked it. I find this very much lookin winterwonderland. Saltpattern make me think about northernlights that i'm happy to see once in while here in Finland. Just awesome work!

Thank you! That was a fun painting to do. I start by just throwing color on paper and sprinkling coarse and table salt on it. Whatever turns out, I find a story in it. This one turned out looking like an entrance to a fantasy world so you hit the nail on the head with the gateway. Thanks for coming to see and leaving a comment.

Wow, wonderful watercolor technique. It reminds of a gateway sort of, a blend of reality and imagination. Your horse anotomy is also very supurb. Keep up the great artwork

Marilyn, I really like this piece. I also dabble in watercolors, and I love the texture you created in the back ground. It fits the composition and theme perfectly.

Lovely combination of medias, I really like the effect of the salt and the way it seems to suggest different shapes and images.

Thanks Serrita! I liked this one so much that I painted it on a wood garden seat for one of my charities to auction off.

Hi Louisiana! Glad to see you back, looking through my gallery. Yes, she is standing at the edge of a valley, looking into the mysteries of a journey yet to come.

Hiya Marilyn!
This painting is very very very pretty!!!Smile
Especially the background and the unicorn!
It almost looks like if the unicorn stands in valley of colored ice...
Actually I never thought you would make something like this but like you say,you like to do something different every now and then.
But anyway,I love your painting and I hope you will make more paintings like this!^_^

Yes, this is not my usual style, but I like to try different things every now and then. No, the trees are not done in ink. I just used a fine brush with the watercolor.

Art at its best.
