Artwork Description

Another scene from the Kingdoms of Kalamar. This would have been a real quicky -- except that I got carried away with the shingles on the roof. Oh, what's an extra hour when you're having fun?

Sorry to post this again - due to an unusual Epilogue glitch, the original upload had disappeared, and didn't seem to be coming back soon. Thanks to all who commented on it - I was sad to lose your messages!

thanks!! I was very happy with the lighting on this one, and I'm glad you liked it too. I'll certainly keep working at it!

This one caught my eye right away because of the incredibly striking look. I like it, it's very dramatic, and you should definitely expand on this. Keep up the good work!

I'm happy this one "does it" for you, Kay! You know, you may have commented on it before; sadly, I had to delete it and re-post because of the update-bug Epilogue was having for a while, so I lost several nice comments that were here before. Sad

I can't believe I didn't comment on this before. I could have sworn I did. Again The lighting..movement and new style are blowing me away.

Hey, thanks a lot, Holger. I hope I can get some more work doing this style in the future, it is fun.

The poses in your bw paintings just bring in a certain dynamic that make them intrigueing, like you just captured a moment in life. The lighting also does the trick. This style is awesome!

Thanks for the input! I appreciate the comments and I'm very happy you liked the pic. It's funny - this style really has proved to be both "murky" and "glowing" at the same time, which is unusual!

Patrick - I like the washed out look of the shadows that you are going for here.
Perhaps if the shadow from the leg was just a bit darker it might work better.
I love the murky, glowing atmosphere you have here and in the companion piece opposite. Good job. Larry

Glad you like it overall, Anthony - I'm still kind of deciding where and where not to put detail in shadows in this style... Thanks for the comments!

Beautiful work as usual. I love the rim lighting on the elf. I'm not too keen on the way the shadow from the elf's legwashes out all the detail of the slate roof but that's the only little thing that bothers me - the rest is great!!!

Art at its best.
